SquareDeal (the “App”) is provided by PrairieStone AppWorks, operated under 102236425 Saskatchewan Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
1. What SquareDeal is
SquareDeal is a tool that helps two private individuals generate a bill of sale or receipt for a private-party sale, capture signatures, and share the finished document. SquareDeal is not a marketplace, classifieds service, dealer, broker, escrow service, payment service, legal service, or title-transfer service, and it does not bring buyers and sellers together — the parties already have their own transaction and use the App to create paperwork for it. SquareDeal is not a party to any transaction conducted using it, and doesn't provide legal, tax, or financial advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be of legal age to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the App to create a transaction, and you may only use the App for lawful purposes. If you are using the App to facilitate a sale involving a minor, an eligible adult must be responsible for that transaction.
3. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy of any information you enter into the App, about yourself and about any other party to the transaction.
- Verifying the identity of anyone you transact with — the App does not verify identity in any way.
- Confirming that the resulting document satisfies the legal requirements of your own province, state, or country for the type of transaction involved.
- Complying with all applicable laws in connection with any sale you conduct using the App.
- Being authorized to enter another person's information into the App for the transaction, and using that information only for the transaction it was entered for.
4. Ownership and authority to sell
SquareDeal doesn't verify who owns an item, whether it's subject to a lien, whether it's stolen, or whether the person selling it has the authority to sell or transfer it. It doesn't verify that payment has actually been made or received. A document generated by the App reflects what its users entered — it doesn't establish ownership or prove that a party had the legal authority to complete the transaction. Any checks, searches, or inspections you consider necessary before completing a sale are on you.
5. Generated documents
Documents generated by SquareDeal are general-purpose transaction records, not guaranteed to be legally sufficient for your particular transaction. They don't create a legally enforceable agreement on their own, and they don't replace official government forms — some transactions (vehicles and watercraft especially) may still require separate title, registration, or tax paperwork specific to your province, state, or country. You're responsible for figuring out what documentation your transaction actually requires. Signatures captured in the App are drawn images, not certified, notarized, or cryptographically verified — see the Document Disclaimer for more on what that does and doesn't mean.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the App to:
- Facilitate, document, or give the appearance of legitimacy to a fraudulent sale, or one involving stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
- Create a transaction record you know to be false, or misrepresent ownership of an item.
- Impersonate another person or forge someone else's signature.
- Violate another person's privacy or legal rights, or any applicable law.
7. Subscriptions and purchases
Some features of the App require payment, made through Google Play Billing. Purchase types may include a free trial, an auto-renewing subscription, and one-time purchases such as document-credit packs or a lifetime unlock — the specific terms for any of these (price, trial length, renewal, and cancellation) are shown to you at the time of purchase through Google Play, and those terms control. Subscription cancellation and billing management happen through your Google Play account, not within the App. Refunds are governed by Google Play's own refund policy — we do not process refunds directly.
8. Local storage and data loss
SquareDeal doesn't have a server, so there's no PrairieStone AppWorks copy of your transaction history or documents — that information lives on your device. If your device is lost, reset, replaced, or its data is cleared in a way that's not covered by your backup settings, that information can't be recovered by us, because we never had it in the first place.
9. Intellectual property
The App, including its design, templates, and underlying software, is owned by PrairieStone AppWorks. You retain all rights to the information you enter and the documents you generate using it.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any document it generates will be accepted for any particular legal or administrative purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PrairieStone AppWorks is not liable for any dispute, loss, or damage arising from:
- A transaction conducted using the App, including disputes between the parties to that transaction.
- A dispute over ownership or authority to sell.
- A generated document being rejected, disputed, or found insufficient for any legal or administrative purpose.
- Loss of information stored locally on your device.
- Your use of third-party apps or services to share or store a document.
- Unauthorized access to your device.
12. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover any claims, losses, or costs PrairieStone AppWorks faces because of your unlawful use of the App, your violation of these Terms, your infringement of someone else's rights, or transaction information, signatures, or documents you create or provide without the authority to do so.
13. Termination
We may suspend or discontinue the App, or your access to it, at any time. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information the App stores and how.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Saskatchewan and the laws of Canada applicable therein.
17. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
18. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Document Disclaimer, and any purchase terms shown to you through Google Play, make up the whole agreement between you and us about your use of the App.
