Templates that fit the item
Vehicle, watercraft, trailer, electronics, or a general item — each template asks only for what's relevant, from VIN and odometer on a car to hull ID on a boat or serial and IMEI on electronics.
Signatures on the spot
Sign on the screen with a finger, and each signature is timestamped when it's locked in. A simple receipt only needs yours; vehicle, watercraft, and trailer sales ask for both parties.
Condition photos
Attach photos of the item as it was at handover, so there's a record of its condition if either side ever questions it later.
Stays on your device
SquareDeal has no server and no account. Your details, the other party's, the photos, and the signatures all live on your device until you choose to share the finished document.
Why we built this
SquareDeal started with a simple frustration: you've agreed on a price with someone from Marketplace, you're standing in a driveway, and the only paperwork either of you has is a phone. The templates you find online assume a printer. The apps that do it on a phone tend to ask for your card partway through, and the reviews are full of people whose document never saved or sent after they paid.
We built SquareDeal for that moment. Pick what you're selling — a vehicle, watercraft, trailer, electronics, or a general item — and the form asks only for the fields that actually matter for it. Attach photos of the item's condition, capture signatures on-screen, and send the finished document straight from your phone. Filling one out is free and uncapped — you only pay at the point of signing, once you can already see exactly what you're getting.
There's no server and no account to create. Everything you enter stays on your device until you choose to share it, which also means we can't see your transactions — or lose them.
FAQ
A bill of sale that both parties have signed is a real record of the transaction, and for most private sales it's the paperwork people actually need. What SquareDeal can't do is make that record enforceable on its own — it captures what you both entered, nothing more. Signatures drawn in the app are timestamped, but they aren't notarized or witnessed. And some sales need more than a private record: vehicles and watercraft especially usually require separate title and registration paperwork from your local registry. If your transaction is one of those, or you're unsure, ask your registry or a lawyer.
It depends on the item. Vehicle, watercraft, and trailer sales are title-relevant, so both parties sign. Electronics and general items are receipt-style — your signature alone is enough, the same way you'd hand someone a written receipt for a piece of furniture.
On your device. SquareDeal doesn't have a server, so nothing you enter is sent to us — which also means that if your device is lost or reset, we have no copy to restore, because we never had one. Whether anything survives depends on your own device backup: Android's Auto Backup can preserve the app's data to your personal Google Drive and restore it on a new device, but that's your backup, not ours. Your finished documents leave the app only when you share them yourself through your device's own share menu.
